U.S. Customs and Border Protection is Hiring a Budget Director Near Indianapolis, IN

This Budget Director (Supervisory Budget Analyst) position is with the Budget Division of the Office of Facilities and Asset Management (OFAM), a mission support office for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The position is located in Indianapolis, IN.

In this position, you will use your professional expertise to exercise professional judgement, initiative, and executive leadership as the Budget Director providing oversight and direction in the execution of programming, budget formulation, funds allocation and awards, strategic planning, analysis, and communications representing CBP's facilities and asset management programs and initiatives.

Typical work assignments include but are not limited to:

  • Managing an enterprise-level financial portfolio including responsibility for the formulation and execution of OFAM's budget.
  • Managing high level functions such as Line of Business briefings, Office of Management and Budget justification documents, the President's budget, Questions for the Record, issue papers, Unfunded Requests, as well as the Requirements and Procurement Plan Build.
  • Administering the budget to enable organizational components to access and utilize financial resources quickly and effectively. Responsibilities of this position include providing guidance, advocacy, and oversight for financial operations throughout the budget lifecycle.

Salary and Benefits

This Budget Director position starts at a salary of $145,053.00 (GS-15, Step 1) to $188,565.00 (GS-15, Step 10) with promotion potential to $188,565.00 (GS-15 Step 10). Employees receive the full package of federal employment benefits that include health and insurance plans, a generous annual and sick leave program, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement plan akin to a traditional 401(k) offering.

Qualifications

Experience–You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:

  • Demonstrating senior level experience in budget and financial management processes, practices and procedures and the rules and regulations in conducting complex analyses of financial, budgetary, and programmatic data.
  • Providing management and technical expertise to support an organizational program working with program/budget execution.
  • Delivering formal guidance, recommendations, and administrative support to executive leadership.
  • Establishing management procedures and progress reporting requirements for monitoring organizational goals and/or program priorities.
